The rest of the season was without incident of note, and we chose to begin picking on the 27th of August. The fruit was super-clean so we were able to pick quickly despite having a few brief showers on the 28th and 31st. What is particularly surprising, and especially so for the whites, was despite the hot conditions, the wines have both excellent energy and freshness. If served blind, you wouldn't necessarily know that they were the product of an exceptionally hot and dry growing season."
