Chanson Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes
Grape: Chardonnay
Tasting Notes: Lemon, Minerals, Apple, Moderate Oak
Founded in 1750, Domaine Chanson is one of the oldest estates in Beaune, growing its own grapes, partnering with other growers, bottling, selling, and shipping its own wines. Chanson's holdings comprise some of Burgundy's most coveted vineyards. Voltaire and the Bonaparte family were among its clients. Chanson was purchased by the Champagne Bollinger family in 1999 and following considerable investment and development in recent years there has been tremendous improvement in quality.
Chanson’s 2 hectares of the Premier Cru vineyard “Les Chenevottes” is located next door to the famous terroir “Le Montrachet”. The spoil is clay & limestone. This wine is well balanced, elegant, round, and has good depth with great structure, supple acidity, and a generous texture. The nuanced palate exudes concentrated flavors of lemon, grapefruit, yellow plum, green apple, toasted oak, nuts, peach and a hint of vanilla. Perfect with roasted chicken or rich fish such as salmon.
