Description:
The Volker Wein Grüner Veltliner comes from a 35 year old sustainably-farmed vineyard located just outside of Retz, about 45 minutes north of Vienna in the Weinviertel. The grapes were hand-harvested into small picking bins, hand-sorted, and gently crushed before being destemmed. The must was settled in a chilled stainless steel tank for about 24 hours before being racked into the fermentation tank. No yeast was added, and the fermentation occurred spontaneously. After the fermentation the Grüner Veltliner was racked once before bottling, in April 2017, and spent seven months on the fine lees. - winery
