Trentadue La Storia Merlot Alexander Valley

Grape: 79% Merlot, 21% Malbec
Tasting Notes: Black cherry, Licorice, Oak, Cocoa
The Trentadue family arrived in Sonoma County long before the region gained a reputation as the Wine Country. Life-long, hands-on agriculturists, Evelyn and Leo Trentadue contributed significantly to the advancement of their region over the years. Miro Tcholakov oversees all aspects of winemaking and is responsible for reinvigorating the Trentadue brand since 1999.
The La Storia Merlot was fermented and aged in mostly French and other European oak barrels (17% new), the rest went into older, mixed barrels. The wine is smooth, medium plus bodied, soft, and viscous with ripe tannins and moderate acidity. Flavors are of black cherry, plums, black licorice, chocolate, oak, and herbs. The new oak barrels contribute a touch of vanilla, brown sugar, and toast. Enjoy with slow-cooked pulled pork.
