Description:
Winemaker Jean-Luc Hubert is a small Bordeaux producer for whom history, the life of the vineyard, and the estate are vital ingredients in the wine. This is a remarkable red from the Côtes du Bourg area, located opposite Margaux across the Gironde River.
Château La Grolet is a 17th-century manor house sat at the bottom of a valley surrounded by its 50-hectare estate, including 38 hectares of vines, with the remainder being natural grassland, woodland, waterways and water sources. The Hubert family acquired the estate in 1997 and then began its total conversion to biodynamics. The steep slopes of this gravel and clay terroir are planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
This exceptional environment with incredible biodiversity allows us to produce complex, pure wines.
Wine Notes: Beautiful ruby red in the glass with wonderful aromatics hints of black fruits, dark cherry and violets.
A blend of mostly Merlot with some Cab Sauv, it's a concentrated, robust wine with classic notes of red cassis, graphite, and a great tannic structure. Utterly charming.
